Mercure Hotel was OK in St Laurent du Var; 10 minute walk to the train platform and to the beach promenade. Monaco after breakfast. NICE to be in the sunny warm dry of the Mediterranean. The train dropped us and MANY “tourists” local and foreign off for a day of walking, shopping, gawking, and eating. “What?” “A clementine each before the changing of the gourd at the Palais. Later a glass of Provence Rose followed by Meg’s Salade Nicoise and my Octopus-potato-rocket salade and for dessert an afocato – double scoops of vanilla ice cream with your pouring a fresh hot espresso over it.” This eating cost 70 Euro!! We bought noting else in Monaco; very expensive. Thursday at the Mulard-Holmestead in Bagnols de Foret, we reintroduced ourselves to the grandsons. ;~} Gabriel is 6 months and has very blue eyes and red hair and a square-ish face; a happy bebe. Tristan woke from a nap to run to “PAPI” and “NINI”. He is active and talkative in French and a little English. I’ll have to learn French in self-defense. Alice’s grandmother, Raymonde, and her friend Alphonse have been there for a few days. Friday we drove to a couple of nearby Provence hill-towns. Tight twisty roads are interesting driving. NOT MUCH in the way of shoulders. Just a one foot deep ditch that could break off your wheel if you get caught in it. The land looks like it...
